Miller Lite cake
Who doesn't like beer for birthdays?! Next time I will use isomalt for clear "ice" instead of boiled sugar... sugar turns yellow when heated... live and learn. Otherwise, with the glittery silver bucket and the pulled sugar bottles with edible lables, this came out better than expected. The birthday girl loved it!

U.S.S. Spongeworthy
My great friends Lucy and Diego turned 50 and for them I made their houseboat, the U.S.S. Spongeworthy, with Sidney the wonder-dog in her pink visor siting on top. (Diego will be working on a nice even tan for the next cake.) For two kooky, fabulous, kind friends, I couldn't have had more fun... especially when they were too busy playing with the white chocolate models of themselves to cut the cake! : )

Red Teapot
Yellow cake with vanilla buttercream and red fondant. Flowers are gum paste, cupcakes are real cupcakes.

Gene's Bus
This was a birthday cake for an 80th birthday. Mr. Gene was a bus driver/mechanic. He taught automotive repair and took his students on ski trips (see the ski poles on top of the bus?), and he used to mine for rubies and emeralds in the NC and Virginia mountains. Also, he was an Amsoil dealer for a while, thus the Amsoil oil drum in the right hand corner. Had fun with this 24" cake and it tasted good, too!

The Grave Digger - side
This is The Grave Digger - for my friend Sara's little boy, Calvin. He turned 5 years old and wanted his favorite monster truck as a cake. How could I resist? We built the undercarriage as a platform. The cake is the body of the truck, and the tires are rice krispie treats covered in black fondant. It was a big hit!

The Grave Digger - top
This is the top of the monster truck cake. Hard to see, but the silver fondant is actually painted with edible glitter, as are the purple fish-eye flames. Happy 5-years-old, Calvin!

Dancing with Jerry
My dear, loveable, huggable, wonderful friend Sara is a Dead-Head, and so for her fortieth birthday, I gave her the ultimate gift... a night to dance on stage with Jerry Garcia! Cake is vanilla pound cake, tye-died with purple and hot pink gel food coloring, filled with Italian creme and iced with chocolate buttercream. Ground is covered with chocolate fondant. Stage is covered with black vanilla fondant. Drum set, stacked speakers and stairs are RKT, and all models are modeling chocolate. In the right hand corner you can see one of the bubbles that was created by the bubble machine behind the cardboard backdrop. I mean, if you're gonna dance with the man, you gotta do it with bubbles! : )
